Project Shipping Today

Today is the day.

My secret project for +Intel and +Maker Faire is shipping today.

I have to say a extra THANK YOU to +Stewart Christie  at Intel for all his help. The project had some issues. Dr. Stewart spend all day fixing it while I was at school.

I wish there were some pictures I could show you of the project in the 'hospital'. If I do...you will figure it out.

Now the real test is...can it make it to +Maker Faire +Intel and work...

See you all next weekend.

Techshop Weekend - From Maker Mom

Joey's Mom:

The last 2 days Joey and I have spend more than 30 hours +TechShop in Chandler, AZ. (1 hour from our house) He is working on finishing his "surprise" project for the +Intel booth +Maker Faire in San Mateo.

What a wonderful team they have +TechShop - It really reminded me of the people you meet at +Maker Faire  They are always always there to help and give advice. Joey has been very fortunate to have a wonderful team of +Intel employees and people he just met, supporting his project.

You don't have to do a project alone. Collaborate, learn and have fun.

I even got to learn to use a grinder. I have to say it was hard but really fun. I wanted a picture of myself in the getup - welder mask, jacket, gloves etc..Joey took one look at me and rolled his eyes and smiled. Love that kid.

I can't begin to thank them. They have given up there weekend just to lend support/help to the success of Joey's project.

Part of the project was finally put together - kinda last night...I was a bit speechless (that doesn't happen much) It was amazing! This afternoon, after Joey finishes some homework we will venture back so he can complete the project. Deadlines are hard but good.

Here are some pictures that I can show you. I'm usually really excited to go to +Maker Faire but I am even more excited this time. I'm so proud of what Joey has done, can't wait for you all to see it.

Cool Present

Today I received a box from France! I had no idea what this was, who it was from. A total surprise. My mom did a great job of keeping a secret.

It was from Gilles Azzaro, you may have heard of him. He is an amazing artist in France. He converts sound into art. I'm sure he does other awesome things too.

A few months ago my mom posted this video.

Gilles took the sound from this and converted it to this...

It's totally cool! I feel honored that he +MAKE  this for me. I can't believe how cool it is. Gilles told my mom that he has submitted his paper work for +Maker Faire Paris  I sure hope others can see him. I'm also excited to meet him in person.

Thank so much Gilles, you ROCK!

Hanging with some Makers

Last night I taught soldering to Reagan, Carson and Keane. These are the coolest kids. They are really quick learners, and made +Maker Faire Robots blink! Good Job guys.

After they wanted to see my office and my room. So we hung out for the next 3 hours. I answered questions and we talked 'Maker'

The coolest thing is that they will be traveling to +Maker Faire for the first time next month! They are very very excited and I have to say infectious. I'm always excited to go to another +Maker Faire but seeing the excitement in someone who has never experienced it..so cool!

They are already talking about what they will show next year in the Young Makers area.

Thanks Reagan, Carson and Keane for hanging out with me. You are awesome MAKERS!

From my mom:

Reagan and his brothers told me something interesting. They all thought of Joey as a 'celebrity'. That still kinda makes me laugh. But if being a role model for other children is considered a 'celebrity' then - what an honor.
They told me they held Joey very high, almost untouchable. It warmed my heart to hear that they felt comfortable around Joey, and to feel he is just like them.
Joey has done a lot of wonderful and exciting things, but to help others - that's the real magic.
